Philosophy Friday 4

Thanks for reminding me it was Friday! @Dextronious Right then. I've been doing a fair amount of research on psychic abilities lately, and I got to wondering: If an individual is blessed with a special ability, it it their duty to help those around them? We often see superheroes in DC, Marvel, or other comic series and universes and most of them once realizing they have a gift that they should give back to the community. I for one think that if I got my Atmokinesis to a complete control, I would try everything I could to help others with it. I'm aware that probably a vast majority on this site has an ability manifestation that they know about. Do you think that because you have the talent that's its your duty to help others? The argument to this I suppose would be: everyone has a right to choose freely what they do with their lives. It's not the place of society to force or pressure special individuals to serve them. So here's the scenario: You have just manifested and fully realized a psychic ability of your choice (and its a long list). You can do anything possible with your new ability now. How do you choose to use it?

no prob for the reminder. anyway I would use my powers to help as in real life my neighbors and friends asked me stuff like this so I trained to be the best me I can be. so in my training it has helped me save 3 people I know and 2 I didn't this training made me also surprise my whole gym class. so I would keep it to an amount as I do of at least about 50. but in public it is rare for me to bust out of hiding until I hit danger and get to the point I start breaking arms.

I really like this one. As for my answer, I would have to say... I don't know. I'm currently writing Szayel: A Wolf's Story book 3, and this is one of the major conflicts that come up. If you have the power to save others, even when they never saved you, should you do it?
I don't know. It's a big question, and I'm still finding the answer to it.

I do this now, and I can't even control it. (Check out my post on forcefields.) If I could control it, I'd probably still help people, and maybe "ask" for a few steaks, or really just food and video games. Lol

I think that this is a rather difficult question, and that a lot of it depends on the situation. In my opinion, yes it is your responsibility to use your power for the good of humanity, however I think this applies to people that don't have a power either.
